Hi,
My name is Lisa, I am a volunteer at HRRRF. Thank you for taking the time to find out more about Roy. He is one of my favorites at the rescue. Roy is very gentle and loving and enjoys a good back scratching and is particularly fond of apples and carrots. With the upcoming fly season, Roy needs garlic, this helps ward off all the pesky insects. A fly mask would help keep the flies off of his face. Roy eats senior feed twice daily and has a healthy appetite. Come out to the farm and meet Roy.......I am there every Saturday for a.m. feed and clean in rain, snow, sleet, hail or tornado!

Roy is a 23 year old large Belgian gelding with a blond mane and tail. He was once a Carriage horse at Stone Mountain Park. He is sweet and gentle and sometimes enjoys allowing kids on him for pictures at fundraisers. Roy has free reign of the farm. You may see him by the barn or walking down the driveway in search of the greenest grass. See below for Roy's story.

About Me
JOIN ROY'S FAN CLUB!
After Roy's time at Stone Mountain Park he was purchased by a private farm and was used for riding and to have fun on. He was then sold to a family who boarded him at a local horse stable. They enjoyed Roy for a few years until the family was getting divorced. Roy could not pay his own board so he was going to be euthanized as he had lost weight & needed more than anyone could afford. An active volunteer at the rescue heard of Roy's situation and literally stopped the plan to destroy him and saved him. The rescue went and picked Roy up the day he was to be put to sleep. He has been at the rescue farm a few years and is a great Ambassador to visitors. Because of a family's personal circumstance it would have been a sad day to have the life of such a gentle giant end. I used to take care of Roy at Stone Mountain Park. When I met Roy, I was 14, it was April of 1992. Roy was one of MY favorites. I used to sleep on his back when he would lay down in his stall in the winter. ~C.K.;D
